A publishing package will save you money on the things you are going to need anyway. You will also gain the benefit of services not offered outside of any package such as procuring copyright and a Library of Congress number.

Young Adult Novel Package

Young Adult Novel Package.

This package is for high-quality Young Adult Novels or 'Young Readers'. These can be soft or hard cover books. This is the correct package for stories of between 15,000 and 50,000 words.

All of the following are included:

Full manuscript editing.
A complete editing of your story including grammar, spelling, plot development, character development, and pacing. A reading level assessment is also included with Full manuscript editing to help you better target a certain age group.

CIP data.
This bit of information, placed on your copyright page, is helpful for selling books to school libraries. The Library of Congress does not furnish CIP data to self-publishers (We don't know why.). We generate this data for you so your book isn't wrongly excluded from school libraries.

ISBN number and barcode.
We will give you a Big Tent Books ISBN number and barcode if you choose. This may not be the best option for you but it is available to you at no cost should you want it.

Book designer.
You will be assigned a book designer at the start of your project. Your designer will make recommendations on the size of your book, the layout of the book, and the placement and number of illustrations if any. Although your book designer will make recomendations, the final decisions are ultimately up to you. Later, when the illustrations are completed, your designer will assemble the covers and interior of your book, preparing it to be printed. Your book designer is an important member of your project team which includes your editor, illustrator, book designer, and project manager.

Project Manager.
Every book project is led by a project manager. It is your project manager's job to know what the status of your book is and ensure that we are always doing the best possible job for you. You can always turn to this person with questions about your project.

15% Illustration Discount.
You get a 15% discount on the illustrations for your book, including your cover art. The vast majority of books in this category have little or no artwork on the inside. The little art that exists is always black and white. The cover art is usually intense and eye-catching.

Apply for Copyright
We will apply for a copyright of your story which will help protect you should someone infringe upon your literary rights.

5% Printing Discount.
As a 'package author' you will get a 5% discount off of our published printing rates.

The discount applies only to Dragonpencil's printing services, though you aren't locked in to using our printing.

Apply for PCN or LCCN
The Library of Congress issues control numbers for books prior to their publication. This number goes on your copyright page and is sometimes required by libraries. We will obtain this number for you.

Big Tent Book store inclusion.
If we build a website for you, Big Tent can process and ship orders for you. Otherwise, BigTentBooks.com will always be available to you as a bookstore customer. We will keep your book in stock and re-order from you when we our supplies run low.

Biz-in-a-Box PLUS Well-Fed Self-Publisher by Peter Bowerman
1) The Well-Fed Self-Publisher, the 320-page leaves-no-stone-unturned "how-to" blueprint used by the author to turn his first two books (50,000 copies in print) into a full-time living for over five years! And, 2) The Well-Fed SP Biz-in-a-Box, an amazing cut-n-pastable 100-page compilation of virtually every piece of marketing material created in the course of the successful marketing campaigns for The Well-Fed Writer titles. Together, they'll save you incalculable time, money, and headaches! (A $40.00 value)

Add-on Discounts.
If you decide to let us build a website for your book or add a read-along CD, you will qualify for a discounted price.

What do I have to pay for besides the package?
Besides the package you will pay for Cover illustration and any interior artwork and then the printing of your books. If you get Add-ons like a website and/or read-along CD, those are also separate expenses.

How long is this whole thing going to take?
We can only provide an average because these projects vary quite a bit. On average your editing will take a month, your design will take 3 weeks, and your printing will take 6-7 weeks. So you can roughly anticipate the whole process to take about 3 months (give or take a few weeks.)

Will you put my book on Amazon and in bookstores?
That falls under sales and marketing which is not part of our package. The process of selling your books is explained fully in the materials authored by Peter Bowerman which are included free with this package. Most likely, you will work hand-in-hand with our friends at BookMasters to set up distribution and fulfillment for your books. OR if you are less ambitious, you can do it all yourself. In either case, we strongly recommend you familiarize yourself with the techniques that Peter explains in his book.
