Dragonpencil Awards No Longer Active
The 2009 contest revealed a problem with the Dragonpencil awards. Some of the would-be winners are not known in the marketplace as self-published. Since the inception of this contest, the term self-published has become increasingly detrimental to book sales. Most books that Dragonpencil has had a hand in are published to the industry under real publishing identities such as Big Tent Books, Castlebridge Books, and others. Since Dragonpencil is well known in the book world as a service provider to self-publishers, it would work against our authors' interests to be the recipient of the award. We are exploring other options to reward excellence in self-publishing without labelling authors as self-published. Those who entered the 2009 awards may ask for their submitted books to be returned by emailing Jerry Seltzer at Jerry@dragonpencil.com Unclaimed entries will be donated as they are every year.
