Other Awards

There are more self-published books published each year than come from publishing houses. That is a lot of books, and the need to stand out from the pack can be overwhelming. There are more than a few awards that you can submit your book for and thus gain some distinction. Unfortunately, most of these awards require entry fees. It is advised that you don't apply for any award which requires an entry fee. The Dragonpencil awards do not require an entry fee.

Winning a contest is great for one's self-esteem but the biggest benefit to a publishing award is the increased exposure and book sales it can bring.

2009 DragonPencil Awards

We are now accepting nominations for the 2009 DragonPencil awards! This is the most prestigious award for self-published children's publishers in the industry. And we all know awards help sell books so step up and nominate yourself. Any children's picture book self-published or independently published after November 14th 2008 is eligible for the DragonPencil awards! Books published before November 14th 2008 are not eligible.

Winners receive a plaque and 2000 embossed, foil-printed seals to apply to their books. They may use the award and it's likeness to promote their book and they will be forever immortalized in the DragonPencil hall of fame!

To apply for the 2008 DragonPencil Awards simply send us one copy of your book. Be sure to include your contact information tucked inside the front cover. Your book will be considered for each of the awards. There is NO FEE to enter. The prizes are paid for by the good people at DragonPencil.

Books submitted as entries will not be returned, they become property of DragonPencil.
